  • GoPro Hero 4 confusion

OK, for a few months now I've been thinking its time to upgrade my GoPro Hero 2 to the Hero 3+ Black.
Today I got an email from GoPro. For Father's Day they are offering a free 32G Sandisk Extreme microSD card with the purchase of a Black or Silver model camera. That's a $35 savings.

So if I buy from GoPro on this offer I can get the Hero 3+ Black for $365. Not bad considering the best deal I've seen on eBay was about $370.

...now here's where it gets a bit confusing...

I found a couple recent articles claiming that "leaked" information reveals that the GoPro Hero 4 will be released in June and cost only $340.

That sure would be a kick in the ass... to buy a Hero 3+ Black for $365 only to have the next model come out a couple weeks later for $25 less.

I'm leaning towards waiting it out, but with my luck it won't be released in June and at the end of the month they will say it will be released in July... and so on...

First I've heard of a new GoPro. I got the Hero 3+ Silver off the local classifieds brand new for $280. Once I seen the ad I jumped on it right away, and am happy with the camera in all respects except for the sound recording in the waterproof case. Have to get some seperate sound recorder.

My suggestion is if you are Go Pro illiterate I would fully understand the upgrades of the GP4,but first know what your goals and capabilities are of the use of the camera. For example if you want to just shoot vid in 720-1080p at 30fps them keep it simple and save your money and get the Hero 3. If you like the upgrade of the 4, like the 4k feature and the 240fps, which is great for super slow motion and you have the computer and editing software to support the production of these features, then I would get the 4.
In addition be careful. There are current reviews of the GP3 and none of the GP4. With that being said, I don't know how short your window is to buy, so go to YouTube and watch the vids on the Go pro cameras. Good Luck.http://youtu.be/xSH9iMjHMNY
