  • Jane's Island - 4/5/14

I took the Hobie Oasis down to Jane's Island on the Eastern Shore to camp out with my parents who were there for the weekend. Beautiful place. Nice campground right by the water.

We caught a multitude of small stripers up to 20" on chartreuse Gulp mullets.

I can see how this place might be a heaven for reds, flounders and specks when it heats up. I will be back!

Sweet!! From looking at Google Maps it seems like those back creek areas might be nice trout spots too!

That's right, I had the Mojo with me! He loves having his own seat, but I gotta figure out a way to rig his mirage drive so he can help out a little more... freeloader!

mytmouse, yeah man, probably trout heaven back there. The main channel is pretty deep, maybe 10 feet, but that maze of creeks is about 2-3 feet, so the mirage drive does pretty well. Easy to get lost back there. The marsh provides good shelter from the winds too, which is nice.

The fall before last the reds were so thick down there you couldn't keep them off your line. This last fall they were a lot harder to come by that far north but were even thicker a little further south in VA. I hope they return to that area this year because it is so close to me. The spring time trout bite is great too. Ill probably start fishing there in a couple of weeks when the water finally warms up and stays warm.

Hi, try using swimshads, especially the 5 inch tsunami ones. Me have been catching them on those in the past week

                      Hey Mike,

You didn't by any chance name your pup Mojo after a pup in a WWII B-17 movie did you?

                      Regards,

                      John

I guess mojo isn't taking up pedaling because you're just gonna make him obsolete anyway!
No sign of anything but stripers?
