Reverse on the last post, after reading more posts and more research I decided to go back to BPS and get the 40A and a 7' MH rod, still keeped the 30lb braid but did not need backing this time. I guess bigger is not always better.

Anyone know off hand how much 15lb powerpro a shimano 3000 series will need? I just ordered a new stradic and shimano doesnt have 15 listed

15# pp is what 4-6# in mono, 300yd spool should do

Tuck - I bought a couple Coronado 55s last year. They balance my 7' rods nicely. I typically don't rinse my reels...never had any problems in the past, but from what I've read, my lack of care may be a problem for my Coronados. I guess I better open, clean and lube them.

I also got a couple of Penn slammer 460 live liners. They seem a little more durable than the Coronados, but I've heard some people have had problems with the live line clutch. I haven't had any problems yet.
