    Default Fish finder sun screens

I have been having difficulty seeing my screen in certain positions due to sun glare and water droplets, so I wanted to protect mine from both glare and spray...unfortunately no one makes one for my Hummingbird 798 side scan unit...so I watched a You Tube video on a homemade Kydex thermoplastic sun screen...pretty straight forward home project- so I went on EBay and ordered two sheets of .80 8X12 kydex...

Did you check with Delaware paddle Sports the Berley Pro for Humming bird might work.

I made one for my FF from some thin plexiglass sheets purchased at HD. Made a template from card board; Used a heat gun to bend it, then spray painted it flat black. Used 1/2" Velcro strips to hold it to FF. System works fine.

Exactly...with Kydex thermoformed plastic...heat gun- pair of heavy-duty sissors & velcro- a 15 minute job to install once you have all the stuff...you would think the manufacturer would offer these as accessories to their product...especially when installed on small, open cockpit skiffs and kayaks...

the other way would be to create a "block" (i.e. your actual FF) and them vacuum-form or heat-gun the plastic to malleable and form to the contour. Quick sanding and matte black spray paint, good as gold. The berleypro for my lowrance serves its purpose (and was only $40) but the plastic is very thin/brittle in my opinion.

I've seen that video you mentioned describing the process for creating the sun screen out of Kydex. Can you provide pics of your screen? How do you like it so far? Did you follow his video to the letter or do any amendments?
