  • Thursday Afternoon Delight- Slower/Lower

Launched yesterday afternoon to abnormally high tide...and I do mean HIGH TIDE...the water was up to the decking on the pier and there were no concrete ramps visible...all water...and it affected the fishing...took me a while to figure it out and get the skunk off Lady Luck...where I normally troll a 6 foot line was over 8 feet deep...and the grass flats were three feet deep...tossed a top water popper for a while across the area normally called the flats at Goose Point...nada...trolled a 1/4 oz. Bomber 4/0 jighead with Bass Assassin pearl/chart Sea Shad across the flats- nada...pulled my home-made Redfish Magic- nada...5 inch crystal minnow- nada...I did manage to pickup one under sized Redfish that I released...moved into deeper waters and immediately hooked up with strong strike on the Sea Shad...a good fight and the first fish was right at 20 inches and lean....not fat like last trip...tossed the lure back and boom- another nice 19-20 inch striper...reeled in the rods and just sat casting to the area...about every 20th cast would get a hit...figured trolling would cover more territory, so back out went the lures...swapped out the lures for all 1/4 oz Bomber/Sea Shad pearl/chart lures...after a double header, decided to just troll one rod-one hell of a tangle...had to pull the mirage drive and untangle the braid- ugh! It was getting dark so I headed back to the launch...at the launch at low tide...looked like a normal high tide...

    thanks for the report!

is the higher tide due to the hurricane?

Tropical Storm Jose was blamed for the higher than normal tides that also flooded streets on St George's Island...
