I strongly encourage you to visit the Walmart fishing section near you.
Purchase some Gamakatsu 1/8 ounce ball head jig hooks. They should come in a pack of about 5. You will want several packs of these and they are pretty cheap.
Next purchase some Arkie jig spinners. They look like a safety pin, but with a silver blade attached to one end. They come in a pack of 4 or 5 as well.
Then purchase some Zoom curly tail grubs in green pumpkin or some type of green color.
Thread the grub onto the jig hook, then attach it to one of the jig spinners. I guarantee you will catch all sorts of fish in streams, rivers, and lakes with this rig.

I also recommend you purchase some Blue Fox spinners. These are fish catching magnets as well.

Good luck and post back with your success stories.

Plus 1 on the Arkie jig spinners- I prefer a better hook so I spend a few more cents and buy Bomber Sea Shad jigheads with premium black nickel hooks...otherwise we are on the same page here...and knots are great...but after several fish, I usually cut off a few inches of floro leader and re-tie...even floro gets abrasion and weakens...

For my fishing line, I purchased some KastKing SuperPower Braid (15lb). I was thinking of using flurocarbon line for leaders (wouldn't want to lose my new tackle when the "big one" hits). Is there a manufacturer/strength you guys would recommend?

I use Red Label florocarbon in 20#...and KastKing 15 # has some pretty impressive reviews for an "off brand " line...

Thanks for the feedback, I'll give Seaguar Red Label a try.

Concerning Kastking, I saw a video comparing it to PowerPro and thought I'd give it a try. You can get 600M of the stuff shipped from "the bay" for under $20.
