  • Crabbing in the Severn

Has anyone been crabbing the Severn lately?? Trying to get a report, thinking about going out this Friday for a few dozen. Also can we get a Kayak Crabbing page?? A lot of guys/gals do it.

No report, but it's rare to fish there and not see crabbers.

Most are recreational but I've seen professional crabbers between the bridges too.

    Good luck.

Oh I'm going out I'm just trying to figure out if I should crab closer to the bay or further up the Severn. I'm bringing a rod just in case. I can always go with WP tacos.

Most of the crabbers I see there work both sides of the river between the bridges.

The crabbers I see in the Severn are working areas 8 to 15 feet deep. Some use trotlines and some use traps.

I haven't really worked anything consistent out. Usually start shallow and do pretty well, but sometimes we've had to go 15-20ft. depends on the day and time. just remember to go out early, bc the boat traffic gets busy around 10-11ish and messes up all the crabbing.

It also seems like they cruise the shallows with a guy with a long-handled net on the front.

                    Best Regards,
