  • St Inigoes 5-26

Joined up with sleepy head Yak67 at St Inigoes this morning. With strong west winds it provides a modicum of shelter in water that can produce fish. I moved along the edge line towards the rip rap point with swells building as I got closer. When I crossed back into 3' of water on the grass beds I began to pick up several mid teen fish on chartreuse colored baits. As I got closer to the point I saw a disconcerting sight, a new pound net. Not only is it in prime fishing water, they tied the net into the rip rap wall so you must go out and around it to continue down the bank. White caps breaking on the wall kept me from proceeding but this is not good. Turned back into the creek when Yak67 reported a legal speck. Our only one of the day as they are still kind of scattered. We battled the wind for a couple more hours, ending up with about 10 stripers each but no keepers. I had my first CNR of the season, boo. Did enjoy a spectacular sunrise and large group of pelicans today.
