  • Trolling motors?

MY son and I have been kayak fishing for about 8 years and he wanted to start tournaments, so we signed up for MAKBF
While reading the rules we were shocked to see they allow electric motors,,, Kinda of knocked the wind out of our sails and lost our enthusiasm.
scratching my head trying to figure out how trolling motors fit in with kayak fishing ?
What percentage of "kayaker" show up to the tournaments with trolling motors?

    Slack
    Captian of the plastic Navy
    1 - Mad River Canoes
    1- Tarpon 120
    1- Redfish 10
    1- Coosa HD
    2- Cuda 12
    1- Slayer Propel 10

I would not worry about them...you and your son will probably still kick their a**. I have been in several tournaments and the human powered kayaks are up against big power boats, and the yakkers have beat them the last three years in a row.

The only advantage in trolling motors IMHO is the return for check in made faster and hands free fishing but you already give up those to peddle yaks.
