  • MD DNR catch and release of striped bass explained

This is a link to the MD DNR site that defines best practices for catch and release.
    http://dnr2.maryland.gov/fisheries/p...d-release.aspx

These are the maps that Bruce and others have shared.
    http://dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/pa...bass-maps.aspx

For those who wish to practice catch and release in a closed area here is a link to the most up to date MD district Court fines http://www.mdcourts.gov/district/forms/finesch/dnr.pdf
It is a 270 page PDF, to save the read it states that the offender can pay a$250 fine, or go to court and if the charge is upheld the 1st offence is $1,000 the second offence is$2,000 and a one year fishing license revocation.

Just for grins I went to the DNR site http://dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/Pa...s/penalty.aspx
It's a 6 page PDF with 90% of the suspensions resulting from striped bass infractions.

That's 6 pages of recreational anglers that are repeat offenders.
Some folks learn the hard way.

And these are only the ones that got caught. Who knows how many more should be on that list. They do the best job with what theyre given but it seems that DNR is a little understaffed. In the last 10 years, I've been asked to produce my license two times.

Yep, in our own way, we can be the most effective way of catching poachers, or just people purposefully ignoring the regulations. If you see something, say something.
