  • cats and more cats!

went out on saturday 1/14 on the potomac and nailed some cats. biggest were 22 pounds, then 18 then 12. everything else was in the 5 pound range. i had an assortment of bait, so i am not sure if all the juices attracted them or what not. the water was 38 degrees that day.

Nice fish! I think bluecats are going to be my go-to fish unless I hear of some encouraging rockfish reports. I need to learn some more fishing skills before I can be an effective coldwater rockfish angler.

Very cool sonar photo. I like how easy it is to distinguish the fish there.

I'm trying to get out this week and hit the hole by fort Washington at the end of Piscataway creek.

My fishfinder was lit up like that at last years spring M&G on the Potomac and I just couldn't catch a damn fish. So far my two kayak trips targeting cats have not come to much but there is always hope.

Skunk again! The highlights of my trip were 3 stolen baits and the Coast Guard, driving an inflatable chase boat, informing me to not go anymore north than Fort Washington (I didn't ask why but I'm assuming they were preparing for the inauguration).

The stolen baits gave me hope and I'm determined to catch a blue now more than ever. I'll be back out tomorrow morning to catch the low tide. I'll be launching out of Marshall Hall tomorrow (1/21) at 7:00am if anyone is interested.
