  • Late Report from the CBBT - Bull red and some cobia

In the craziness of the fall, I forgot to post a pretty good trip we had at the CBBT. I took my buddy who had never kayak fished before to try and get him his first red. Long story short....he hooked up to a couple reds that came undone, but landed two great cobia at 43" and 39". I also lost a cobia and three reds before finally hanging into one that stayed buttoned up. Here are some pics that of an awesome day...something to get me through the winter!

Two of my favorite fish...both are strong fighters- other than tripletail- nothing beats a plate of cobia on the table...

I have not had triple tail, but heard it's good. Cobia are my second favorite fish. Wahoo would be my first.

It is hard to say which fish tastes best due to the different recipes and methods of preparation- Golden Tilefish, scorpionfish, snowy grouper- monkfish are all delicious as are the big pelagic sport fish- yellowfin tuna can be excellant if prepared right- same with dolphin, wahoo and cero mackerel- I have had a nice grilled Mako steak that was superb...

Ditto...love that release shot! It is something special to bring one of those Bulls up to the boat but seeing one swim away is even better
