  • Deep creek 8/1 - 8/6

Spent the week in Swanton for vacation with the fam. We made a few outings on deep creek and also fish the Yough and New germany lake. We didn't tear it up but we never got skunked and caught a majority of the freshwater species of the area:
    From deep creek we caught
    1 Walleye @ 15.00001"
    3 Smallmouth to 14"
    3 Pickerel to 21.5"
    6 yellow perch to 10"
    1 bluegill @ 9"

    From the Yough we caught
    14 Smallmouth to 14"
    1 Rockbass @ 6"

From new germany lake we caught
    20 bluegill to 8"
    1 largemouth @ 15"

Most of the fish were caught on night crawlers or small spoons.

Side note: does anyone know what the flower mushroom thing is in the pic below.

Yep, Indian pipe. It's actually a parasitic plant, not a fungus.

      Nice report, btw.

        Very nice report.

I hate to admit this but I was last at New Germany Lake in July of 1964 on a weeklong camping trip with my aunt and uncle. I was 10. I sat on the dock at the lake numerous times that week with worms for bait suspended under a bobber. I caught lots of bluegills. I was in kid heaven.

Here's a quick vid of my son catching one of his first (of many) smallmouth bass:
