It seems the friskiest fish are always the male bull reds in the 40# class- they seem to have more stamina and pulling power than the big cows- love that first run they make- makes you wonder if you can stop them...

Huh, that's good to know... always got worried when trolling at CHSP and seeing the dolphins in my trolling direction... Was always afraid if I hooked one I'd end up in Spain LOL!

He would have completed spooled me if he hadn't decided to turn and run back to me! Thankfully he did. Lol.

Ditto what Doug said, but especially in my case, it is more about putting in the time, not getting discouraged, and finally having it pay off. Just so you know, I had over 20 skunk trips for Bulls over three years, before I finally got my first one in a yak last fall. Getting four more this spring was awesome, but humbling because I lost three other hookups (I call it the day I used rubber hooks) lol

I'm not sure I will ever fully get over the 'kicking myself repeatedly' feeling of not joining you guys that Monday. I'm sure I'll get over it eventually, but probably not until I find myself with a big red in my lap and an equally big grin on my face. Seriously nice work guys ! I have a grin already just thinking about how awesome that must have been.

You put in a marathon weekend and the Saturday we went was not cake walk. We covered 26 miles. After fishing Sunday too, I don't blame you for heading home! And don't worry....we only have a short break and we'll have a big ol' red in your lap by the end of July.

Great Job on the Reds, they are beautiful fish! I rarely peddlle that many miles, but after seeing your results I'll definitely start.

                            Thanks again, all.

Carl- Sometimes it isn't needed, but even if I find them after mile 2, I'm still going to paddle another 18 trying to find them again.
