  • Pics of MSSA catches?

Who else participated, preliminary results have me in first place but someone might have slipped through. Friday was the best day by far for me, i wish i could have stayed out there longer but i had to pick up my daughter from school. Ive been catching nice fish lately and took extra precautions for this catch and release tournament. I made a ruler out of the pvc board material to accomodate the official mssa ruler and bought some velco straps to hold the fish in place while i took a picture. Boy did they come in handy. I had several mid 20s throughout the morning but nothing worth putting the fish on the ruler. After an hour or so of being out there, my line took off screaming once again, but this time it kept on going. I managed to being him up top 4 times, but he always took off straight back down to 80 ft of water. It took me a good 25-30 minutes to get him next to the yak. Fish grips couldnt hold his under lip, so i had to grip him by the side of the mouth. There was no way to bring him into tbe kayak, i tried to use the leg method but no luck. My only option was to paddle inshore to take a measurement. I got him on the ruler and he came in at 46.5 inches. I could not believe the size of the fish. Once measurements were taken, i aided the fish to recoup some energy and let him swim away. Saturday was a tough bite, even for some boats. Biggest was 19 inches which was enough to put me up somewhere on the board. I knew i needed something bigger and decided to go out yesterday, 3 ft waves, rain, and patchy fog was tough too. But i managed to get a 25.5. I called sunday early since the weather was getting worst. Here are my catches. I paddled about 30 miles in these past 3 days, not including this past weeks' trips.

You did it right. You put in the time and fished your butt off before the tournament; game planning and figuring out the fish. That's a rarity these days...

Here are a few of my catches. Friday was the best day for me too. The top water bite was hot at the flats. Fish were super shallow in 2-4ft of water. However, I was not able to upgrade from from Friday's catches.
