  • Legal live bait in MD tidal waters?

The other weekend, I was in some tidal tributary with my son. we brought a cast net to catch minnows/bait fish.
We just used what ever 2-4" fish we caught (excluding bass).
I was going to bring a minnow trap next time, so we would not have to break to net for bait.

Is it legal to use a minnow trap in "public" water?
Is there bait fish that we catch, that we should NOT be using? looks like there is a size limit on White Perch?

Am I worrying about nothing? or do I risk a "bait search" by the man.

There was a proposal to allow use of minnow traps on public land in MD. I can't find whether it was passed. As far as white perch are concerned, you're good to go. The 6" minimum size that was in effect in the Potomac has been eliminated.
