  • Ive been leaving the rockfish alone

But ive been hitting up different waters in order to get ready for the blue cat tournament coming up. I will give out the location after the tournament has passed so you guys can go enjoy some fishing of your own. The biggest so far has been 40 pounds, and ive seen 60 pounders in that area. Here are some pictures to get you excited.

This past trip i turtled the kayak in 46 degree water. It was cold, but was able to get through it. I did manage to loose a $400 rod and reel setup. looks like ill be having to wait on my ff and get some gear again.

Luckily, wife doesn't mind the missing rod and gave me the green light to get another!

Curious about the conditions when the kayak turtled. User error or something outside of your control?
    I need a good paddling

Partly my error. Yesterdays weather turned bad. Mixture of tide change, winds picked up, waves hitting the side of the yak, stringer of angry catfish pulling down, all while anchored.

Those are some nice fish. That 40 pounder is a beast and would have won the whole tournament last year.

Did you have any trouble getting back in the yak? I have practiced getting back in but only in warm water and calm conditions.

I am about 95% positive I'm going to fish it. I'm going out this Saturday to scout around and see what's what.

try that while anchored....especially from the rear......you will find it is a whole different ball game. That tarpon will go right over

Just curious... What is the consumption advisory for blues in that area? I ask because my wife and daughters love to eat fish, but I have to be extra careful right now about the types of fish I put on the plate.

                              Stick to eating smaller ones.
