  • New Personal Best Striper....Brace Yourself

I've caught a lot of really big stripers, but none have ever been close to this one. I'm still in disbelief. I knew it was something incredible when 10 minutes had gone by before I even saw it. It wouldn't even move.
I was on the water by 4:30 AM and fished through the darkness looking for piles of bait. This girl was hanging in the big schools of bait. It was hanging off of a point that was swept by current.

    Here's the pic!

          That's incredible Alan.

          Congratulations.

I don't know how you got her out of the water while keeping your kayak top-side up!

Saw on of those in the costume shop, almost bought one, and decided no one would believe it. Leave it up to Allen to catch the real thing. Congrats. Give us some specs.

I almost rolled the kayak trying to get her in, not kidding. I needed two hands to hoist it over.

I didn't have anything long enough to measure it! The tape measure ran out at 35" and it had a long way to go. I slid the tape another 13", and ended up with 48"...perhaps more but it was the most accurate I could get with what I had and the situation with a really heavy unwieldy fish in my lap. It was close to breaking 50", just a little bit shy.
It took up the entire kayak. I didn't even know what to do with it! The weight of it bearing down on my lap was amazing.

Now you have to write another book just so you can put her on the cover!
