  • Fish finder glare shade

I took my new Cellblok/Elite 4 HDI setup out for the first time yesterday and it worked great. The sun glare, however, made it very difficult to see the screen. Has anyone made a DIY sunshade for a fish dinner of this size? If so, I would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks!

Jim, sounds like the cellblock setup worked for you. You may be able to take a piece of cardboard and tape it to the FF to make a shield

Why do you want to shade a fish dinner? It seems to me that the sun would cook the fish nicely.

I too sometimes find the glare to be a pain. I usually adjust the angle of the screen a little to reduce the glare. Shading it with my hand has not really been all that effective and with the angles of the sun I usually get it wouldn't do any good to try installing anything.

If you play with the level of background light and background color, you should eliminate the difficulty of viewing your fish finder. I dont think there is a solution for shading a fish dinner besides consumption.

Check out glarestomper.com. I have one of these on my vehicle GPS. You can also order by screen size.

BerleyPro has some shades for certain ones and I believe they have one for yours. They don't carry one for mine though which is Raymarine.

I can't help you with the glare issue... but I do know that wearing polaroid sunglasses plays havoc with my FF screen (Eagle Fish Mark, b/w)... makes the screen all blotchy looking. Clash of lenses I guess. PITA, but the FF is just barely usable. I don't know if it's just my screen or do other FFers do it too. Same thing happens with the screen of my digital camera.

My buddie used a For Sale sign and painted it black and wrpped it around his FF. That was 2 years ago and he still uses it, so I guess it helps.

                        Cheers!

I made a sun glare for my Lorwence 4 and had the same problem. So took it off, have not use it since.

i use the berley pro visor on my elite 5 and like it. Martyn is a great guy to deal with and his products are top notch. I also run his batter holder on my slayer propel.
