  • Easy Homemade Bow and Stern Straps for you Car Toppers

Think I've seen similar ideas around here but just saw this and thought I'd share in case anyone finds it useful.

Seems very neat, cheap and efficient for those carrying on a car or just wants a little more security with a long reach of bow or stern hanging out . Don't know if I quite like the hole though the strap with a bolt. Maybe a narrow slit through the PVC, pass the strap though and knot may be stronger and less likely to fray.

I'm lucky to have real attachment points front and back of both Jeeps. I saw the link earlier today, I get those emails too. I have mix thoughts on the way they do it, but I haven't seen any better homemade solutions for regular (non-Jeep) vehicles.

Don, I use these on my bow and stern. Cannot find the exact product I use, but these are identical. Must less chance of damage under the hood and tailgate using these instead of PVC, just more expensive than the DIY versions.

FWIW, any straps/webbing in contact with the vehicle's paint, will rub through the paint. It took 50+ trips, that average(d) over an hour round trip, to notice, but the paint on the front of my hood is worn through. I will need to address that soon.

I'm a cheapskate and all for DIY type stuff but for $13 a pair for the Quickloops I'd be hard pressed to put out the effort to making a homemade set. Had no idea that they were that cheap.
