  • Shallow Susquehanna

I put in on the Cecil County side just below the VFW. I paddle way up in the rocks on the Cecil side. It was low and clear with minimal flow (1 small gate). I threw a 3 inch ripple shad paddle tail on a 1/16 jig head without a look. Switched to a 2 inch in the same pattern and immediately started landing small smallmouths in the 10-12 inch range. I threw topwater and it got good for a short period and then shut off. I landed 4 on 4 cast and then struggled until just after dark. I found a kayak paddle that I would like to return to the rightful owner. I have a post in the general forum with details.smallmouthtopwater.jpg

As you would expect, the flows just above Harrisburg are no better. I've never seen the Susky so low. Seems like most of the nice smallies have abandon the rocky shallows (where I like to fish) for the safety of deeper water elsewhere... and I can't find were "elsewhere" is located.
