  • 301 Bridge

Planning on a trip to 301 Saturday. Wife is tagging along so targeting the marsh banks should be a good reference to stick to. Anyone is welcome to come with. This will only be my second time there so I'm hoping throwing a gulp will do the trick. Anyone try a popping cork around there?

What side are you launching from? I'd try some plastics or gulp for redfish around the banks, it's the right time for them in the Potomac. If you launch from the MD side, make sure to hit the outflows from the powerplant hard. If you launch from the VA side there is an oyster bar about a mile up that juts out from the point and it's a good place for croaker/reds/rock. Beyond that in the shallow water are some good banks, piers and a small creek mouth that holds rock, catfish, huge white perch, and even largemouth bass. The Potomac is a wild place! Good luck

Negative, there are not a lot of flounder around there. Further down the Potomac near Cornfield Harbor you have a better shot. I have seen flounder above the 301 bridge but it has been very rare.
