  • Anacostia @ BWP 8/2

2 friends were visiting & they wanted to fish for snakeheads so we rented SI kayaks ( the only kind they have for rent) & we launched from BWP. It was an unusually higher high tide( due to the blue moon, I'm guessing), partly cloudy & it was slack tide when we launched just after 9am. We were able to paddle to places where normally we would hit bottom. We paddled wide to give the pier & bank fishermen a wide berth & we caught LM bass, wp, yp,& horizontal-lined swimmers. We had 2 follows & 1 strike & spit (s&s) by snakeheads. We fished until 12:30 during which the tide was slowly going back out & the sun was out now too. I got sunburn on my legs. Osprey, bald eagles & several species of ducks greeted us as we searched for the elusive slimy & ugly, yet delicious snakeheads.

Thanks for report...haven't had a chance to get down there this year. Was most of your action upstream?
