  • August 8th M&G - Mattawoman

    August 8th M&G
    Fishing
    Location:
Slavins Boat Launch 100 Mattingly Ave. Indian Head, MD 20640
    Time: 0630-1130

    Lunch: George's Ribs
Location: 4840 Strauss Ave Indian Head, MD 20640
    Time: 1230

I haven't been able to fish much this summer due to a job change at work but I am scheduled to be the host for the August M&G and it's past time to start coordinating! I've proposed the above times and lunch location for fishing Mattawoman Creek on August 8th for LMB, Snakeheads, Catfish, etc. The times and lunch location can be changed!

    Who's in?

I'd like to join but have a question. I bought a non-resident VA fishing license (fresh/salt). Where's the boundary between VA/MD on the Potomac? I figured if I launch from VA I need a VA license and the same for launching from the MD side.

You can fish all the way up to the route 225 bridge, so you will be perfectly fine for launching and fishing at this get together.

So who all is in at this point? Also, proposing to change lunch to a closer location, how does - http://www.georgesribs.com/ - sound?

You can count me in. I won't be able to attend the lunch afterwards though. I've got a 2 month old at home and Momma was nice enough to not complain about me going fishing all morning. I've been researching snakehead tactics and I believe I have it figured out. I've got some frogs ordered and I need to spool some reels. I've seen that guys are using 40# braid or heavier. Is this overkill? I've got some reels spools with 30# braid with a topshot of 17# mono. I know these guys have teeth and a hell of a bite just curious how heavy of tackle I'll need. Looking forward to meeting everyone. I'll be in a white Silverado with a red outback.

I'm attending and will do lunch if we have a place close by. I'll also be bringing a guest. A new kayaker. Not on the forum. I'm in for RIBS over pizza..

                              Snakehead catch

Looking forward to Saturday, and meeting you guys for the 1st time and hitting some new water with a pretty good chance at finally catching a snakehead. I was hoping someone could show me how to filet one if I get one worth keeping. I am horrible at it in general and would like to take at least one home. Thanks
