  • Fishing in the rain

I'm sitting here (with a messed up left knee) watching the dark cloudy skies and the intermittent rain and remembering some of the best fishing days of my life were on days like this.

I just ordered (and received) a rain suit a couple weeks back so I could take better advantage of days like this but I'm not ready to load/unload that kayak/gear till my knee gets fixed/straightened out.

A couple good Mepps #2's with gray squirrel tail hair and nickel blades in the Greenbrier or Meadow Rivers in WV for small mouth and red eyes would be getting me hooked up.

Down here, a chrome Johnson spoon with a white grub trailer, or a plastic frog fished around the weeds/lily pads on the Chickahominy River or out at Lake Chesdin would do the trick on largemouth bass.

I haven't got to fish the Appomattox or Nottoway Rivers yet, so I can't say what works there.

I just need to get out and do some fishing.
