  • Beverly Triton 7/5

Dao, Cowpokey and I launched out of Beverly Triton part around 6:30am. It was a cloudy overcast day around 86 degrees with low winds and outgoing current, water was around 76.7. I caught 2 baby stripers near the rocks next to the launch in about 5’ . Afterwards I headed towards the South River to check on channel marker area but no marks so we all headed to Thomas Point Light house. When I finally got there, there were lots of marks near the north channel side of the light house. We all managed to catch lots of schoolies at the 10’ depth. I caught 2 keepers at 20" and 26".

That guy on the Mako skiff was doing lots of catching with his fly rod. FWIW, he was using a "deceiver" fly. Said grey over white and chartreuse over white were the best producers. I didn't ask him if he was using a sinking or floating line, but I don't know if it would matter too much, he got hooked up pretty quick after the fly hit the water most of the time.

I need to tie some flies and give it a try. Maybe this fall when the birds are working.

As a crow flies, it's almost 3 miles from launch to light.

The fish looks small, because you are a giant...

Good to know on the sinking line.

Sounds like you guys had a good time together. The shot by the lighthouse is nice.
