The current can get really bad on the river. You really have to use caution when going out. Always check tides and weather. Not a place I would try if you're new to the sport.

I usually go out of augestine beach and stay inside the wall. I catch some nice catfish there.

I talked to a bunch of guys that have got caught in that current and couldn't get back in. Having a Hobie the current really isn't a issue for me. Its a excellent place to catch early season striper if you can deal with current.

Staying out of the river seems like a good choice for me then.
