Last year's long winter definitely impacted our early spring fishing.

White perch in particular were late to arrive at their familiar spots.

I suspect we're in for more of the same in 2015 as we prepare for yet another jolt of winter in March.

The good news is that this meteorological misery will end shortly, the fish will eventually oblige and this forum will light up with catch reports.

But I agree. The waiting is hard.

Occoquan is still mostly frozen. I guess no yellow perch fishing this year.

4-8" of snow tomorrow. Oh well. Winter just doesn;t want to let go. Spent last night stripping wallpaper with the Mrs. Painting this weekend. I should have a good supply of permission slips earned by the time it warms up.

I keep tell myself that someday there will be some liquid water to launch in, but I'm starting to have my doubts.

I have some new rod holders to mount and I haven't even had the urge to pull the yak out and mount them.

Big swath of 9-12" coming tomorrow, then the thaw begins next week without much cold returning in march. Many folks will be amazed by huge snowfall after watching tv weather people telling them it is just going to be a few inches.

It's just starting up here in Harford County. I said it before "I am tempted to use my kayak as a sled". Gotta make lemonade.

Your kayak looks cold, you should bring it inside so it knows you care.

another 8" today, I did buy 4 trolling combos Wednesday for the big warm kayak.( my buddies bertram 35), so I can feel it coming. But the kayaks are just gonna have to hang there like bats for a while.Photo03051542.jpg
