  • Polar Vortex bass

I was able to catch a few on Friday despite the 40 deg weather.

I actually caught a few more after these guys, but my iPhone 5 battery died.

Time to switch to the Galaxy S5?

Well done! Are slow rolled spinnerbaits still the working presentation?

p.s. - they are holding one of the MAKBF Tournaments on Rocky Gorge next spring, I am going to lobby the tournament organizers to have you banned!

Thanks Dave! Yeah the spinnerbaits are still working great. I'm guessing the water temps are low 50s/high 40s. I added a large curly tail grub so I could work them at slower speeds. I've been fishing pretty sloppy lately too and haven't been using my FF, just casting to likely looking spots and counting down 5 or 10 since my time on the water is limited with daylight savings.

Nice looking fish. That 14 incher looks like he will grow to be a beast!

The 14 incher had some claw marks on him. My guess was one of the bald eagles tried to grab him and he escaped to fight another day!

Well I went back today since I had the day off and the bite must have died off from the last few nights dipping into the 20s. I did manage one nice one though on the spinnerbait.

This is probably it for me this year at Rocky Gorge. I really wanted to hook into one of the larger northern pike specimens, but I guess thats a 2015 goal now.

Well that 20" is a great way to cap off the season!

I think it will take a few days for the largemouth to get adjusted to the dropping water temperature and it will move them closer to the areas where they will ride out the winter.

Excellent Perchy! That is outstanding that you identified some areas and presentations that work at the Gorge. Looking forward to some awesome reports from you in 2015.
October was shot for me due to house and automobile projects and I've been sick for the last two weekends in November, so I have gotten absolutely zero fishing in this fall.
