  • Damn near skunked at Piney Run!

Looking for some help here. I went to Piney Run on the 27th of September. We arrived at about half passed 7 and fished until about noon, I only caught one LMB and hooked one more, but couldn't land him. My wife had zero luck, but she was more focused on getting a tan than actually fishing! Lol. Anyway, I fished everything from waky rigged plastic worms to frogs to spoon-billed crank bait. The fish I landed and the other bite was on silver, shad-like 6"-2' spoon billed. I'm wondering if that rain we had thursday and friday had anything to do with my poor luck? I'm headed back out there This Saturday, and I was hoping some of y'all might have some advise for me on how to have a little more luck out there. Thanks in advance! Good Luck.

I always remind myself, a bad day fishing beats a good day at work every time!

When I start off fishing I usually start with something fast or top water to see how aggressive the fish are and to get the quick biters. If the waters murky I'll throw a spinnerbait, try to concentrate on wood rock or fresh grass. Not twigs but logs. run squarebills thru them. Then go back through with a tube, jig or worm. Or even drop shot a small 4" worm. That should be enough to pick up some kinda pattern. Always look for change. Fish relate to change
