Tautog & current question

I plan to try tog fishing for the first time this season, probably at the concrete ships for starters. Do they bite better if the current is running strong or is it better to time the trip to fish at a slack current or does it really matter? Thanks!

Slack current is usually the best but a weak current can also be productive down there. If the current is really ripping you can try to tuck into one of the ships but watch out there is a lot of stuff to get jammed up on.
