Whats happening at Triadelphia?

Decided to stop by Triadelphia reservoir (green bridge rd entrance) last night around 8:30 pm just to talk a walk and check it out after dinner.
I noticed how low the water levels were there... there was barely any water at the boat ramp and the entire outer edge of the reservoir was completely dry.
Has it been noticeably hot out lately? Was surprised to see how low the water levels were.. wish I took some pictures

they drain it a little.. then drain the gorge down a little.

but tridelphia is about to be shut down for 2 years to fix the dam.

fish are about to get HUGE in there

They have been releasing more water than normal for the past couple of months. Early this spring it was due to the heavy rains. I live below the dam and drive over the Patuxent every day.

How has that affected the area by cattail creek?

The launch sites at Pigtail and Big Branch appear to be permanently closed, at least the last couple of weekends I drove to them. I assume due to the low water levels. Is there any other decent kayak launch site open besides Green Bridge? Seems like Rocky Gorge is going to get busier than ever.

I've launched from Pigtail and Big Branch in past years when the gates were closed at the ramps. It is common this time of year that the Triadelphia water levels are low. I'll have to stop by this week and check it out.

Please do. We fish there quite often when we can. We launch kayaks from the triadelphia lake launch

green bridge ramp was dead low too when i last checked. hopefully this rain we got today is helping out a bit

Are the launches too muddy to get a kayak cart down or high risk of losing your shoes?

My buddy drives past every day twice a day and he said the levels are low but not unlike normal. Those launches mentioned are on the howard county side. We launch a t tridelphia lake rd and I think that is OK. So is the main launch by the dam.
