  • Top-water Bust E.S. Upper

The weather was ideal, the water was clear, the time of year aligned.....but I guess the water temp is too warm. I mixed it up and tried the Eastern Shore today from sun up through the tide change before working a half a day. Worked several points that this time last year were on fire. Nothing but a few blow ups at best. I did give up and work the channel trolling my Jimy twisty tail combo. In the 9:00 hour grabbed a 22, but rest of the morning all unders. The only time I hooked up was around bait. Enough action to save a non-existent top-water bite.
    Thanks, Dave

Good report. Agree the water is still to warm to draw the fish to their usual October haunts. Potomac was still 75 degrees on Tuesday. Hopefully this rain will help.

I was out on the Eastern shore yesterday evening and had similar results with topwater, but I was able to get about 16 or so fish trolling soft plastics, two of which were 20". Water temp was around 76 where I was.
