  • 2 pb's at Loch Raven

Often fish from shore at Loch raven this time of year and took my friend to get a Pike there today. He was successful getting one close to 30" and I got 2 personal bests while I was there. A 26 1/2 pickerel and a 38" Pike. Last winter I fished in an online pickerel tournament and couldn't get one over 23" and decided not to do it this year but I'm not complaining.biig pike.jpgbig pick.jpg

I've always wanted to fish Lock raven from shore. Where do you park?

Awesome, thanks for sharing! I live pretty close to Loch Raven but never really fished it. I'd like to fish it but with the rules, I'd need a second kayak.

There are places to park all over. You will see other cars parked, just make sure there are not no parking signs around. I like the northern end for pike and pickerel. Bass are pretty much spread throughout.

Yes the other problem is you have to launch at the fishing center and that is a long way from most of my spots. Of course you have a torqueedo which helps with that problem

Crazy thing is that you are not allowed to use an engine on a kayak at The reservoirs even if you could get a permit at Loch Raven

The new 915 Wh battery makes it even easier. I used to mountain bike around the trails and it's a beautiful place. One day maybe I'll see it by water too :-)

Awesome fish! Pike are on my 2018 goal list. Do I see a mirrolure hanging out of that pickerels mouth?

Yes that is a mirrolure. I recently bought it after ComeonFish recommended them for sea trout. I took it to Loch Raven to try it out. I immediately liked the action. I also hate the 3 trebles. If you notice I cut the middle treble off of it. I am going to try replacing the trebles with single hooks. I hooked a pike about 2 weeks ago on it and the fish had all 3 trebles hooked down in his mouth. It was hell unhooking him. The big pike was caught on a swim bait, I prefer lures with single hooks for them.
