  • Fishing suggestions for Key Marathon

Mid August is when I'll be there.

I have stayed in knights key campground over Christmas for the last 30 years. The 7mile bridge is the perfect place to haunt with a kayak. Pigeon Key has channels that run north to south that have big tarpon at the right time of tide. Hawks channel, old bridge piling should whatever your heart desires. Good paddle but worth the effort. The fishing is awesome. The camp ground is a little different in the summer months than winter but not bad. Try launching from sombrero beach and going up sister creek. Throw baits into the mangroves and have fun. We start at sombrero beach and end up at knights key, park the boats then bicycle back for the truck. I wish we could be going. You'll have blast. Stop for lunch at birdines along the way. Good luck.
