  • Potomac Smallie

Got out on the Potomac before the rain today. Fish were not in areas they had been the previous trips in August and September.

Caught this healthy guy on a green pumpkin curly tailed grub.

Lots of wind blowing us up river. Only fished for a couple of hours and only landed one fish.

Nice job on the smallie. This time of year there always seems to be a huge transition for potomac smallmouth

Nice looking smbass. I see in the photos that the Potomac has eel grass too. Is that stuff starting to break lose and hanging up on your lures? On the Susky @ Harrisburg eel grass can be a big deal with just a small 3"-4" increase in river flow. Sometimes its floating down river so thick that I have to go totally weedless. On the other hand, when it's still attached to the bottom in big clumps it acts like a hotel for smallmouth.

Grass wasn't much of a problem yesterday. Locating fish was, along with the wind. Had a nice time with my son. After the Navy Yard tragedy this week, there's much to be grateful for.
