  • pohick bay fees?

i was thinking about heading to pohick bay the other day, but decided to check their website for boat fees. to my surprise it says there's an admission fee and a boat fee for launching FROM SHORE!

Do you really have to pay for both when launching a yak?

I believe it is $4.00 for residents and $5.00 for non residence. I do not know what counties are included in the resident vs nonresident fees. You can also buy a year pass which gives you access to all fair fax county and norther va regional parks that have launched a launch.

Those fees are correct for cartop boat launching. If you join the Occoquan Water Trail League ($40 resident / $70 non-resident) you get unlimited launch privileges are a number of sites: http://owlva.org/cms/water-trail/launch-sites

It's part of Northern Virginia Regional Parks. Residency includes Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church and the City of Fairfax. I fish Pohick all summer so membership is well worth it for me: http://owlva.org/cms/league-info/membership

I've always paid the hand launch fee but I've never paid an admission fee. Not even sure where they would collect an admission fee? It's always been drive right to the ramp, pay the launch fee and off I go.
