  • Minnows

I know we all or most of us have to search far and wide for minnows during the colder months. I guess that some of the local lake and resevoir consession stands are starting to open up on weekends. If you need any and live close to Manassas, Lake Brittle has them. I picked up 2 doz small yesterday at 4.00 per doz. I didn't have time to use them all and the survivors are in my fish tank out in the shed. fished 6-9pm. nothing.

If you are talking about mud minnows they are around all year and are fairly easy to catch even in winter.
        You might also call them:
        mummichogs
        killies
        mud minnows
        gudgeons
        bull minnows

        everyone calls them something different.

last summer a guy told me to put some dry dogfood in a minnow trap, that it would last. The bread rolled into a ball would break apart and I would have to replace often. The dog food lasted and I had full trap of minnows. Give it a try and let me know if it worked.
