  • Redfish Caught the First Lake Anna Keeper Striper - Feb 18, 2013

    First of all,
Don't assume that Alabama rig works all the time. It seems that too much hardware (such as Alabama rig, tandem rig with bunch of teasers) may chase away freshwater stripers on a sunny day in the clear water.

Redfih12 and I went to Lake Anna Dike 3 (cold side) for stripers. Sunday night, we decided to go to Lake Anna because Bay Bridge wouldn't be kayaking friendly due to the strong wind.

We trolled to find the fish. We mainly trolled edge of flats in 12-30' of water avoiding deep water. In the morning we found striper constantly. But some how jigging/casting didn't work even though we stayed over the good sized schools for good period of time.

I think We caught 13. 12 of them were caught on simple rigs.

    Here is the fishing log:

It was a nice day and we had pretty decent action in the morning! I'm happy to have caught a keeper there from the kayak, now I just need to do it on my home lake! I made home made Ramen with striper last night, pretty awesome after a cold day of fishing!
