All I can say is wow, it was brutal out there. Launched from the beach and headed out to whats the left of the old pier. Jigged for about about 30 min, few bites but no takers. If you thought it was a snag fest before, its worse now. Headed out to the wall and managed to get a few short tog around the 13-14inch range, and then the usual suspects, seabass, toads and croaker. The wind kept getting worse into the afternoon but since I hadn't caught a keeper yet, I decided to stick it out for a bit longer. The next hit was brutal, dropped down some clams I had bought at the asian mart, fish on. I thought to my self, this is a monster tog. Got him to the boat, and to my surprise it was 17-18inch sheapshead. That thing put up one heck of a fight. The look on the boaters faces after I landed him was priceless. I'll be paying a bit more attention to the weather next time I roll up there, my kayak got beat to death! lol

Nice report. I've never caught either, but feel like that might be a black drum?

YEah I think that is a black drum too, pretty sure you can tell by the mouth as it opens down, while sheepshead havethose lips with teeth.

Black drum, no doubt. Look at the dorsal fin. If it's continuous, it's a sheepie. If it drops and then rises, it's a drum.

                Inner or outerwall?

That pier sucks. I have lost so many bucktails there.

Nice catch. Definitely a juvi blackie. They lose the black bands when they get older.
