Need some help guys. I will be in Melbourne from June 11-15th for work. I was thinking about leaving early on either Sun night or early Monday and doing a half day guided kayak trip to somewhere in the area. Anyone have ideas or a good guide recommendation. I will not probably have any of my own gear with me unless someone has a travel rod I can borrow. I'm open for suggestions.

I'll be there June 11-13th and am using this guide for the 11 & 12 and doing 13 on my own. I've spoken with home several times and I'm impressed.

If fishing within refuge waters print and sign the free permit linked at this site or search and get the 2012 one and carry it on you.

I had a trip to Orlando a few weeks ago and rented a car and drove to the boat ramps and around the area. Looks small on the map but all as big as the bay in person.

I couldn't find a kayak guide when I was there last November. Here are the details from that trip:

The rental kayak I used in New Smyrna kind of sucked, but I was able to find some specks nonetheless. There was another rental place on a nearby saltwater creek, but I've since lost the contact info. I'll take another look and let you know.

Don't try wade fishing the lagoon- big alligators- my experience was like Bill's lousy rentals- the lagoon is huge- goes for miles and miles- best get a guide and fish it-
