  • Fletchers Shad, 3-26-12

    Hey J.A. - I too was out fishing in that windy maelstrom yesterday, except I was at Fletchers.
    ===========================
    Fished Fletchers yesterday, 3-26-12, 10:30am-2:00pm. Caught 14 hickories, mostly medium smalls, maybe one female. Very windy day with downriver gusts up to 20+mph, white caps all up and down the river. Fortunately I was fishing from shore, but even so, I almost got blown off my rock a couple of times. The few boats out were having a very tuff time with the wind. I'm surprised Fletchers was renting.

    Once again, the preferred lure was a 1.5” limetreuse twistertail on a 1/16 oz head with a ½ oz bullet weight pegged 3’ up the line. I usually don’t use that much weight but the half oz bullet came in handy to cut through the strong wind. Also tried other colors of small soft plastics and also a gold spoon with nary a tap.

    River in good condition although the flow is still somewhat below average. High tide at 11:45am and water vis ~5’-6’.
