Fished Lynnhaven with ComeOnFish and my gf saturday morning/afternoon. Caught a few small trout and lost a few nice ones at the side of the boat. Caught several tiny flounder and the usual mix of toadfish, sea bass, spot, puffers, silver perch, and pigfish. The wind was pretty strong all day with periods of showers, but we were all comfortable in waders and dry tops. Sad to see them come out so soon this year! It was a nice day on the water and it was really cool getting my gf out there in some less than ideal conditions and seeing her enjoy it. She handled the outgoing current by the bridge with ease when we were rounding the shoal. I think she is ready for some bigger water! Maybe tog this weekend... We had planned on fishing the HRBT or Rudy that night, but the winds were too strong for her first night fishing experience.

In other news, you can no longer launch at Ft Monroe at night, only daytime. And- on the Norfolk side of the HRBT the northbound span of lights are out.

Since I had planned on fishing the hrbt that night I kept an oystertoad that swallowed my bucktail for bait. Unfortunately, the fishing plan didn't work out, but I still got my bucktail back. For those of you that have been wondering what to do with your enormous toads, the meat is actually white and firm down there, once you get the skin off!

See that knife hole in between the eyes? Didn't phase him.

That is actually bright pink / chartreuse with a spot strip and a brown gulp. There are many colors in the flounder rainbow apparently.

I would eat it more if someone else caught and cleaned it. The skin is pretty weird and the fish looks gross. Meat was fine though!

Interesting, looks more like a puffer to me in that video but I'm sure it would work.

Tuff seems like we should exchange phone numbers for next time we're all down there
