  • Kayak Trailer Rigging

So, I was tired of waiting for harbor freight to receive more trailers in so I went to Tractor Supply Co. in mount airy and bought myself one of these...

    http://www.tractorsupply.com/trailer...railer-1000215

They are a bit more expensive than harbor freight but their trailers are all welded, rather than nuts and bolts.

I got it registered in Maine, 5yrs for $70, including sales tax. Sorry state of MD, your trailer laws are a bit too much. Sent them my Bill of Sale and some other paper work and a week later I had the plate. Super fast!

Well, I started rigging today. Here are a few pics of what ive done. More to come...

should have used pressure treated ply.

gonna keep it simple for now. its actually pretty fun to rig but if I dont stop at some point its probably gonna end up with rocket launchers and a whole bunch of useless crap on it....lol

ill have more pics in the next couple of days.

Go with your gut felling when rigging that trailer. You know you will have enough room for rocket launchers, Kayak, Stereo, Rod Locker, Snack Box and a kegerator.

                      Nice!

Nice job. I like how it turned out. What type of saddles are you using on the crossbars to attach the kayak?

                          Cool.

I'll have to look into finding some cheap used saddles on Craigslist.

By the way I like your kayak too. How do you like the hands free kayaking?

i dont think i could ever paddle a kayak after getting the hobie. it makes it so much easier especially with strong currents.

i bought mine on ebay, got a good price on them.

Are you going to make it a multi-yak trailer? I want to make one, but I think I would like to be able to carry at least 4 yaks so I can split the cost for road trips. Or... if you make one we can ride with you!!!
