  • Piney Point 6/18

Headed out of piney point this morning with Bill and Kevin. trolled a rattletrap off the launch and picked up a small blue. As the day progressed ended up catching several croaker upto 14.5'' a hand full of spot and some white perch. The croaker were caught on fresh asain market shrimp, and the spot (from 4-8'') caught on bloodworms.

(the yak almost tipped when a kamakazi croaker hit like a freight train)

YEAH IT WAS A GREAT DAY! Thanks for letting me tag along. I caught 2 small rockfish, a hand full of big croaker and a whole mess of perch. Lucky I brought my short rod and crappie gear so I could cast from the nice cool shade under the oil pier. ....I am totally exhausted from my long paddle though. Whew!! Had a great perch and croaker dinner!

      Sorry for the late update

It's been an intensely stupid week, which had kept me off the forum.

Pinch was the drum whisperer, out-catching me while I used the same bait and cast in essentially the same spot. Anyway, my tally was several croaker up to 14" (kept 3 of the biggest), two spot up to 8" (one of which Pinch gave me), and a couple 6-8" white perch. Water temp was 74-76* depending on where we were, and salinity was still low at 6.7.

Here's Pinch fighting the freight-train. I wish I had a video because the initial hit was hilarious.
