  • Bignose spinners work in VT too!

    Bignose spinners a interstate success!

After 5 days of wind and rain on VTs beautiful Lake Champlain I finally got the yak out for a little fishing. The Smallies were all over the Bignose perch spinner. I caught 10 for the day. The biggest was about 18 inches. Crystal clear sweet water - awesome.

          Thanks for the plug!
An 18" Smallie is a good fish anywhere!
I guess that I am gonna have to start marketing them and trying to sell them commercially…..nah, too much like work. I just like to make `em.
I am real glad that others are getting use out of them and catching fish!
          Good karma!

I have caught Sm Bass, Lm Bass, Bluegill Sunfish, Yellow Breasted Sunfish, Green Sunfish, Crappies, White and Yellow Perch, a Hogchoker, Small Stripers, Bluefish, Creek Chubs, Pickerel, and one of my cats on these lures. Pretty versatile lure!
The cat put up one hell of a fight, but it was caught and released. (That'll teach the little bugger not to jump on the tying table!).

Sorry no pics the cell reception is sketchy at best and no WiFi. We are in the boonies! Going out again today will try to send a pic or two.

Not only that, Raptor's official photographer (me) remains in MD. Trust me, I've taken pictures of enough of his fish to know that when he says he caught an 18 inch SM, he did!

I caught 2 largemouth bass last night in a local pond using a bignose spinner.

Last night I noticed that I like the hook Bignose uses on those things. The hook seemed light wire and pointy. Both bass were hooked in the meaty corner of their mouth and were not going to come off.

The hook I use on the Spinner Jigs is an Eagle Claw #455. It is a specialty hook that is specific to the Do-it mold that I use.
It was a pain in the butt to find them for a while-out of production. Now made in China.
