Maybe someone should start a KAYAK launch location forums?

Not just the well known locations but obscure ones.. I just got a starter kayak and have been going to locations on this page but I know that there are many more... What if I want to fish at the Gas Docks at Calverton or other places in the bay that are popular boating locations, where should I launch from?

Just a thought... Be nice to know now that I'm spending all my time looking at Google Maps and looking for a place that I can park near a beach (legally) and launch my kayak... Oh.. good videos on youtube man.. it led me here...

thats the thing about kayaking, you can pratically put it in anywhere! the only list i could put together right now would be public boat launch locations which can be found at the link below. i hope when yakkers find new locations, they would be willing to share with the rest of us, as long as it's ok with the landowners and is legal.

welcome aboard and hope you stick around!

This is the site that contains launch ramps...
Can't believe I paid for Solomons Island one... The beach was to the left of the boat ramp but the old lady that (probably owned the place) charged me. It's all good though.

          Launch locations:

          Your link is better though.

Hey.. Thanks..... Glad to have a site that's specialized for kayak fishing. Can't believe the sport/activity has not picked up here in our area but it's hot almost everywhere else it seems.

                Gas Docks

If your trying to get near the gas docks, the closest access point I think would be Breezy Point Marina off of Plum Point Road. But you can't technically fish the actually gas docks it has been closed to fishing for the last few years and is monitored by the local state/county police.

Oh...LOL... I keep on hearing people talking about fishing near the gas docks.. Maybe it's south or north of it... Thanks for the info.

I'm a new guy to the group as well. Have been doing pretty well in evenings under Kent Narrows bridge (got at least two 20-25" each evening) but looking for other suggestions in mid bay area. Where do you all fish when going out of Sandy Point? I can launch from Plum Point but don't know where to go from there??

Welcome and thanks for joining....i've always wanted to take the kayak to KN but haven't gotten a chance. Do you anchor or just go with the current? Are you jigging the pilons?

Stupidjet and I usually launch either from SPSP or Hemingways. We fish the eastern shore all the way to SPSP. We did pretty good trolling under the bridge and now live lining has picked up.

I jig the pilons and cast up under the bridge against current with bucktails and then bump it back to me. Picked a couple up on cut alewives. Setting isn't very relaxing. I tie up to pilons and it's noisy with the cars overhead and boats coming through. Also did well at north end of sea wall south of the KN bridge when tide is going out and when tide is coming in I've done well along the old sea wall that runs to the west of the newer wall. When you liveline, do you use only spot or anything else?

i mostly use spot. there are people that use perch but i believe spot works best and are easier to catch, at least around the bay bridge.

WELCOME.... I am a rookie yaker and never caught a striper yet. What are you using? I always lose gears at Kent Narrows fishing from shore so I try to avoid that area. But in any case, welcome.
